Cruise, Pacific Ocean

Rhapsody of the Seas

Until Departure

I’m setting sail on my 5th and longest cruise – a 19 day cruise from Honolulu, Hawaii to Sydney, Australia! The Rhapsody of the Seas is a  Vision Class ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet, just getting out of dry dock for a nice, fresh renovation in April 2012 and features a few really cool things I’m excited for!

  • Glass-canopied solarium adults-only pool
  • The normal rock climbing, available on most Royal Caribbean ships
  • A new poolside, outdoor movie screen (first for me on a Royal ship!)
  • Upper-deck jogging track
  • In addition to all the amazing food already there, a new complimentary “Park Cafe” and a few new restaurants.
  • Once again some amazing broadway-style entertainment, along with a new “R Bar”
  • A really cool addition of acrobatics and ariel spectacles in the new Centrum!
This is the smallest Royal ship I’ve been on, but it’s still a big one…
  • 11 decks
  • 8 pools & whirlpools
  • 8 bars & lounges
  • Gross tonnage: 78,491
  • Length: 915.35 ft
  • Max Beam: 105.6 ft
  • Draft: 25 ft
  • Cruising Speed: 22 knots
  • Capacity: 2,435 passengers
  • Crew: 765

This cruise is a trans-pacific, and is considered a relocating cruise as it’s purpose is not just to take you around in a loop, but to actually relocate the ship from Honolulu, Hawaii – where it has been running, to Sydney, Australia, where it will begin cruises this season. This will be the first one I’ve taken like that, and I’m really looking forward to getting my “sea legs”!

As a result of this there aren’t as many ports to stop in, but we still managed to fit a bunch in, and I’m very excited for each one! Please check out each port on the right 🙂
