As I mentioned in my last blog post, I am super excited to have been selected as an iWitness Ambassador for IKEA Canada this year. Unfortunately, contradicting what I said in my last post, I’m not yet able to share where I’m going – and there’s a chance that I won’t be able to share this until I’m back in Canada!
The security situation in the country is considered a bit sensitive, and while I have no concerns personally about my safety I can respect and appreciate the foundations desire to keep things under wraps for now. If this does change sometime before we leave I will be sure to let you know! 🙂
What I can share is that we’ll be going to visit a refugee camp with the UNHCR sometime in May. I’ve been doing some (lots) of research on the country and the UNHCR itself and I’m getting very, very excited. The work that this organization does is absolutely mind blowing – if you have some time, take a look at the website – I’ll be sharing bits of information on it as I continue my research. The vast support that they provide these refugees is stunning, and I’m eager to have the opportunity to meet these brave people and share their stories.
So that’s what I wanted to share today! I’ve got lots of work to do in the coming weeks to prepare for this adventure and I’ll keep documenting it as much as I’m able to.
Thanks for tuning in! 🙂
