The magic of Disney!

I’m 25 years old and I still get a stupid grin on my face as I walk through the gates and see the Magic Castle. I giggle with delight when I see the parade pass by, and watch along with a crowd of a thousand or so people, old and young, as we cheer on Mickey like he’s a huge celebrity… which… I guess he is?

Needless to say, Disney is magical.

It’s funny though, when I went to Disney for the first time in 2011 I got that stupid grin on my face, and I couldn’t remember the last time that I’d felt that way – kid inside jumping out. Now, today when I got that grin, I was pretty used to the feeling after so many “wows” over the last 6 months. It’s a “wow” for me, but it’s not one of those things that I never get to experience anymore… and I couldn’t be happier.

Anyway – Disney was awesome. I got up and did the “weather test”, a little cooler than yesterday but not too bad. Packed myself up and set out! Let me just say – the Paris Metro system… in l o v e. I didn’t get to use it much when I was here last time, so I didn’t fully appreciate that it is EVERYWHERE. Period. It’s everywhere. Look at Paris on Google Maps – see all those little M’s? Yeah – EVERYWHERE. It’s awesome.

Jumped on the Metro for the trip out to Disney, probably about 45 mins in total over two lines, no big deal. Stupid grin appeared a few steps off the metro as I saw the first Mickey Mouse. *grin*

8 hours wasn’t quite enough, especially for two parks, but I did my very best. I stuck mostly to the “thriller” rides, as well as a couple of the Disney classics for fun. I was mostly in Disneyland, I only made it to Disney Hollywood Studios in the hour before it closed, but I did get to do one of it’s more popular rides – the Hollywood Hotel Twilight Zone thingy (probably not it’s official name), which was pretty awesome. Did a similar one in the Tokyo Disneyland.

The Disney app was FANTASTIC! So cool! It shows the lineup times, fast pass info, a map with GPS – the works. Great for getting around the park – especially the Disney Land one, which is pretty huge.

Attended two parades – a 20th anniversary one at noon and the 5pm regular parade, both were awesome. Caught lunch at the Hakuna Matata restaurant, a little overpriced (surprise!) but pretty good. I think my favourite ride was probably Space Mountain 2 – it was pretty cool :p but everything was awesome. I saw Captain EO again lol, saw that in Florida with Michael Jackson. Amazing how ahead of the game Disney was at the time. It looks pretty normal right now, but even now it’s “with” the current technology more or less.

And yeah.. that was my day today 😀 can’t complain! It was great to go to Disney again, that’s three parks that I’ve been to now – Florida, Tokyo and Paris. Unfortunately I passed on Hong Kong this trip, but I’ll have to get there sooner or later 😉 Got dinner at a great little burger joint right across the street from my hostel – food in Paris is EVERYWHERE, and very, very good. Meeting with Sophie tomorrow, we’re going to visit the Museé de l’Orangerie (thanks to Megan for the suggestion), and then I’m off to visit with my cousin for a few days on Friday! I was also invited to a RYLA party on Friday night, so I’m hoping to attend that too!!!

Loving Paris so far, so glad I decided to return and spend some real time here. Last year was really just 36 hours or so, not enough time to get to know the city AT ALL. I might try to get to the Louvre tomorrow morning before I meet up with Sophie, and I’m debating if I want to climb up the Eiffel Tower again…… decisions, decisions!

Got to book the flight to Berlin shortly, looking forward to that as well – heard lots of good things.

And with that, I will leave you… when is the last time you got the stupid silly grin on your face??!! Time for a visit to Disney :p Whatever you’re up to… have fun!
